How Your Employees Ruin Your Doors

If you have a place of business, you know that many of your employees head out the back door to smoke.  Because your back door, if it has the proper lock installed on it, always locks back automatically.  So, what do many employees do to prop the door open?  They place a rock or a piece of wood between the hinge side of the door and the jamb.

Your door is "sprung" because an unsuspecting person tried to close the door without removing the rock or piece of wood that was inserted near the hinges.  By pulling on the door, the rock created a lever and fulcrum and destroyed the door hinge mounting plate int he door and the metal plates behind the jamb.  Not only that, but the hinges were bent as well.

If you need to prop a door open, prop it open with a rock by laying the rock on the ground at the side of the door opposite the hinges.  That way, people will see the rock and remove it before closing the door.

If your door has been damaged, have a continuous hinge installed.  That would be cheaper than replacing the door!
