Us Lock's RC0 Key Can Be Modified to Fit the RC1 Lock!

If you run out of US Lock's RC1 keys (this would be the Arrow #81 key) you can grind the sides of the RC0 key (Arrow #51 key) and it will insert into the US Lock RC1 interchangeable core.  In fact, one locksmith said that he was able to make twenty RC1 blanks out of the RC0 blanks in just a few minutes time.

It may be possible to take the US Lock RX0 key blanks and, using a Dremel tool, grind away part of the key to make it pass the RX1, 2, and 3.  This issue might need to be addressed because it may compromise the security of both the RC and RX systems as sold by US Lock.

US Lock's RC1 interchangeable core locks are issued to protected territories.  However, the RC0 cores and key blanks are available to basic US Lock dealers.

I would strongly recommend that US Lock's RC and RX systems be researched thoroughly before being purchased and used in any environment needing key control.  If working keys can be fabricated for the higher systems using lower system key blanks, then the system, or systems, should be avoided.
